I half-heartedly stabbed at the crumbs of your favorite thing.
I'd be lying if i said i didn't feel the sting in that soft fleshy spot in me that so few people seem to think exists.
I couldn't blend in at all.
Didn't.
Is it me that won't let me, or them?

That old, broken lady on Sound waved at me again today,
so I thought it best to stop to say 'Hello'.
How many times have I passed her by?
Countless.
Her wrinkled skin, greying on top.
Some bumps and bruises but no doubt, full of memory.

Fight tha Powa'!

Hmmm...
I'm not so sure how i feel about the slant on the whole thing.

Another article from newsday:

I was there yesterday checking everything out. As a resident, I go unaffected. But, to those who are not residents who have been enjoying free parking for years, is it like squatters rights? Should they still be allowed to park freely? Especially since they have designated motorcycle parking outside of the main lot's parking stalls. If you pay, you should not be corralled anywhere. You should be able to park anywhere you like within the legal parking areas.

And to say that this would address the noise is a bit funny. There are free street spots, free municipal parking in 2 lots. Paying to park doesn't stop people from cruising the main drag and looking for a free parking spot. It keeps them and their loud pipes circling the lots and the blocks looking to park for free.

Modern Snack Bar - Aquebogue, NY
T h u r s d a y ,   J u l y   2 7 ,   2 0 0 6

Mmmm.. the Modern Snack Bar. Aside from their deliciously kitschy sign, the pie is amazing. Can i get an AMEN for pie?!

Is that not the best sign in town?
So Modern.
So Snack-y.
So Bar-y.

You know, more and more in my 'old age' i find that strangers talk more freely to me. Not the crazy people who ask me if its 'hot in all that leather' but just, you know, people.  People at the next table in a restaurant. People in a store. Those people. Conversational folks. Its nice. I guess i must be losing that 'Please don't speak to me' look i've had for so long. I've always been pretty shy. I guess I feel less shy, less unsure or judged now.

Yesterday out of the corner of my eye, I kept catching a woman watching me eat my chocolate cream pie. As i got up to leave, she had to stop me and say.. 'please tell me the pie was worth it.' It was, lady. It was worth it.

I think maybe it's time to petition to get pie to be its own food group. Right after we get cheese approved.

Oreo Cookies
T u e s d a y ,   J u l y   2 5 ,   2 0 0 6

Last night was one of the coolest temperature nights in what seemed to be 1 meellion years. Kenny and I took a nice leisurely jaunt along the north shore out to Funchos at around 6:30.

I always try to have my camera with me, because, well, life is beautful. Of course it isn't exactly helpful when you whip out the old camera and it has a stone dead battery.

For whatever reason, i find old bulb lighted signs really appealing. Also the tube light signs from like, the late 50s and 60s. You see them on old pharmacies and stuff in small towns that still hang on to the natural quaintness. For whatever reason, i love this stupid Rocky Point Tire sign. I've seen it 186 times and each time i'm all like 'Hey, you should snap a pic of that sign.' So of course, i'm in the right place at the right time.. with a dead camera battery. Photo courtesy of Kenny's Super-Collosus-Braniac-NonBlackberry-Smartypants-Photo-Camera-Computer that fits in your pocket phone-thing.

I'll have to go back with the trusty, low-tech digi Elph. Nerd.

How great is the lettering on the Rocky Point part?
And those tires.. C'mon.
Beautiful.

I feel like eating Oreos now.
